Welcome to the website for the Cooley~Keegan San Francisco branch of CCÉ.

We encourage everyone to take a glimpse into the wonderful culture of Ireland. Come join us for a great time with music, dance, and special dancing or céilí dancing, let our excellent dance instructors put you at ease.

Set dance classes are being held at the United Irish Cultural Center on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. Please consult our calendar for times and updates on these classes.

The year is rolling along nicely. We had a successful St. Bridget’s Céilí in February and another one in early April, which was attended by some younger step dancers who encouraged us to have dances more often! So, we have scheduled another Céilí for June 4th. See the Calendar for details.

See our website for information on Language classes and Singing sessions. Both are ongoing.

We built a float in the SF St. Patrick’s Day parade which won first place for Irish float! It was a rainy morning, but we all enjoyed ourselves dancing for the crowds.

Now, we look forward to the 50th anniversary CCE North American Convention to be held in Washington D.C. at the end of June. A number of us are attending what is sure to be a memorable event. See CCEpotomac.org for information.

Comhaltas Big Draw 2023

We have raffle tickets for sale for this year’s Big Draw in Ireland. This is a fund-raiser sponsored by CCE Ireland to help branches raise funds.

1st prize: €5,000
2nd prize: €500
3rd prize: €250
5 prizes of €100
5 prizes of €75
Bonus prize: *A collection of 10 Traditional Music CDs and DVDs*

Tickets are $5 each. Each book of 10 tickets carries one free ticket for the seller.

Draw takes place in December 2023. The list of winners will be posted on our website and in our Fall monthly newsletter, Scéal Eile.

Our branch gets to keep 100% of our sales, so it is a fabulous fundraiser for us. The proceeds from this draw will benefit the events sponsored by our branch.

Our branch will also offer four additional prizes of $25 each. Each ticket you purchase entitles you to a chance at one of these cash awards, so there will be 4 “local” winners.

How to purchase tickets:

  1. You can order here by clicking the Big Draw PayPal button. Include your home address with payment so that the tickets can be sent to you by mail.
  2. See Susan, Moe or Josephine at set dance events to purchase tickets for cash or by check.

Mallen Scholarship - Application Form - The Mallen Scholarship was established through the generosity of Kevin Mallen, an enthusiastic supporter of Comhaltas during his lifetime. The purpose of the scholarship is to support students learning to play traditional Irish music. Mr. Mallen’s generous bequest to our Branch allows us to fund this scholarship in his name.

The application for a scholarship award is open to any Cooley-Keegan member up to and including age 18. Applicant must be a junior member in good standing of the Cooley-Keegan Branch of Comhaltas.
