Wren Boys '02
On
Thursday, December 26th, a small group of stalwart dancers and musicians
gathered at Michael Murphy's House to brave the cold and embark
on yet another year of Wren Boys celebrations. Our schedule would
see many pubs that night, and a few private homes:
The Shannon Arms
The Lundy's
Sam McGuire's Pub
Durty Nelly's
Terry's Lodge
The Black Thorn
Catherine Scanlon's
The Blarney Stone
Ireland's 32
Plough and Stars
At each stop, our musicians played lively tunes and the dancers
did a few figures of a set or two. There was on one in the '32,
so we decided to give that stop a miss this year. At the Blarney
Stone, the bar tender called a free round for everyone in the bar
who would get up and dance, so the entire bar ended up dancing the
Siege of Ennis. After that, we collected our drinks and headed off
again.
Our Musicians this year were Angeline Leleux (fiddle), Richard Ferry
(flute) and Kenny (banjo), and they played brilliantly!
